Therapy
We often come to therapy because something isn’t working. It may be a relationship, a way of coping, how we feel about ourselves, or patterns we keep finding ourselves in. Sometimes we know what’s wrong, while other times, we may simply sense that something doesn’t feel quite right.
I approach therapy with curiosity about what lies beneath these experiences. Difficult feelings and patterns often have histories, and understanding them can open up the possibility of change. Together, we may explore what these patterns once protected us from, why they persist, and the feelings or experiences we have learned to avoid or dismiss.
My approach is psychodynamic and relational, which means we will pay attention to both your present life and the past experiences, including the relationships that shape it. Often I find that these familiar ways of relating find their way into therapy, which gives us an opportunity to understand them as they unfold.
For me, the goal of therapy isn't to arrive at some perfected version of yourself, but to understand yourself more fully—including the parts that may feel contradictory, uncomfortable, or difficult to accept. As we understand why we feel and behave as we do, patterns that once seemed inevitable can become more open to change.
About Me
As a therapist, I value a willingness to stay with complexity rather than rushing toward easy answers. This doesn’t mean the work is always serious; humor and lightness have a place in therapy, too. I try to approach each person without assuming in advance what their therapy should look like or where it should lead.
Before becoming a therapist, I studied literature and worked as a teacher. I think there is a throughline between those parts of my life and the work I do now. I have always been interested in how people make sense of their experiences, the stories we construct about ourselves and others, and the ways our histories continue to shape us in the present.
I received my MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles, where I trained primarily in psychodynamic and relational approaches to therapy. My clinical training was at Antioch Community Therapy Services, where I worked with adults navigating a range of emotional, relational, and psychological concerns.
